This article will show you how to connect your ShortPoint Alert Design Element to a dynamic SharePoint List.

Prerequisites
- You must have the latest version of ShortPoint installed for your SharePoint environment.
- You must be a ShortPoint Designer with an active license.
- You must have an existing Alert Design Element on your SharePoint page.
- You must have an existing SharePoint List with all the content you want to connect to.
Step-by-step Tutorial
Follow the steps below to learn how to connect the Alert Design Element:
Step 1: Edit the Alert Design Element
NOTE: If you do not have the Alert Design Element on your page yet, check out How to Insert Design Elements in Live Mode.
Click the Switch to Grid Mode icon.
Hover over the Alert Design Element and click the cogwheel icon.
Step 2: Connect the Alert Design Element to a SharePoint List
Go to the Connect tab.
There are 3 connection type options for SharePoint Lists:
[1] Current Site - allows you to connect to a SharePoint List located on the current site.
[2] Other Sites - allow you to connect to a SharePoint List located across your tenant.
[3] SharePoint Site URL - allows you to connect to a SharePoint List using a specific SharePoint URL.
For this guide, we will be using Current Site.
Select the name of your SharePoint List / Library.
Select the View you prefer. For this guide, we will select the default All Items view.
Add an Items Limit.
NOTE: The value you add to the Items Limit will be the maximum number of items shown in the alert.
Click Connect.
You will see green banners at the top and bottom of the Settings window once you connect your SharePoint List successfully:
Step 3: Map Content
Below is the SharePoint List we connected to. For this guide, we wanted to showcase the [1] Title and the [2] Description of our SharePoint List inside our alert:
To do this, go to the Content tab.
Delete existing content.
Click the link icon to see the list of properties you can map.
Select Title to add the title of each alert.
Then, select Description to add the description of each alert.
To further emphasize the Title, highlight #LinkTitle and click B to turn it Bold.
Step 4: Update and Save
Click Preview to see how the alert will look on your page.
Click [1] Update if you are satisfied with how your alert looks or click [2] Back if you have any other edits.
Click the eye icon to preview your Alerts Design Element in real-time.
Click Save to keep your progress.
Then, click Republish.
Congratulations! You have successfully connected your Alerts Design Element to a SharePoint List.
