Important disclaimer: Starting with ShortPoint version 7.1.5.xx (New Upgrade), you can no longer create multiple site collection app catalogs and install different ShortPoint versions into them. You still can upload the ShortPoint app to the site collection app catalog to control who can add and install ShortPoint in specific site collections.

ShortPoint SPFx package needs to be uploaded to App Catalog in Office 365 SharePoint environment.
There are two types of App Catalogs in SharePoint:
- Tenant App Catalog
- Site Collection App Catalog
The following table explains the differences between the two to help you out decide which one is good for you.
Advanced Technical Differences
|Deployment Scope ||Apps / Add-ins and SPFx solutions are deployed globally across all site collections|
This option is good when you want to control ShortPoint app centrally and do not want to have multiple versions of the same app installed in your tenancy. You can centrally manage/upgrade your apps from tenant app catalog.
|Apps / Add-ins and SPFx solutions are deployed to a specific site collection|
This option is good when:
|Authorization||You need to be tenant administrator to manage the apps deployed to Tenant App Catalog|
This option is good when your organization security policy does not allow app management authorization any other user except tenant administrator.
|Once the site collection has been added to the approved list of site collection app catalog, site collection administrators can manage apps under that site collection|
|Security||You as a tenant administrator will have the option to verify all the apps being deployed to your tenancy||You are delegating site collection administrators the option to verify the app being deployed to the site collection. In the case of SPFx solutions, app can get a grant to access other resources of your entire tenancy, and this can be security concerns.|
|Versioning||You will have only 1 version installed globally, and you do not have the option to have different ShortPoint versions installed at different site collections||You can make multiple site collection app catalogs and install different ShortPoint versions to them.|
No longer possible to have different versions of ShortPoint with the New Upgrade (ShortPoint version 7.1.5.x.xx and later)
