You may have tried copying all contents of an existing page containing ShortPoint Design Elements by following our tutorial article on how to Copy, Paste, Backup, Export, Restore and Import ShortPoint Page. In this article, we will show you how you can copy a Design Element and its contents for you to paste and use in any other SharePoint page that has ShortPoint.
Note: ShortPoint Page Builder Live Mode was formerly known as Visual Builder and Grid Mode was formerly known as Wireframe Builder.

Prerequisites:
- You have ShortPoint installed in the site pages you are designing.
- For the new ShortPoint editing interface you must have ShortPoint SPFx 8.0.x.xx or later for SharePoint Online and Office 365.
- Follow the Legacy Page Builder steps if you are on earlier SPFx versions or you are on On-premise SharePoint 2013 or 2016.
- You are a ShortPoint User with an active license.
Copy and Paste Specific Design Elements or Sections in ShortPoint
Select the ShortPoint editing mode that is available for your environment below and follow the steps provided.
In ShortPoint Page Builder Live Mode
Step 1: Enter Live Mode edit mode
Edit the SharePoint page you want to copy from, select and edit the ShortPoint web part, and switch to Live Mode.
Step 2: Select Design Element or Section to Copy
Press the EasyPass tag of the Design Element you want to copy to show the different action buttons.
You can also choose to launch the context menu by right-clicking on the Design Element you want to copy.
Step 3: Press copy option
Hit the ellipsis from the action buttons and select the copy option. This will copy the necessary data about the Design Element to your clipboard.
If you choose to use the context menu, you can go ahead and select the copy option.
Step 4: Paste Design Element or Section
Now you can go to the page you are designing and paste your copied Design Element.
When you are copying a whole Section just like in our example, go to the Section before or after the space where you want to paste it into. This may be the default Section if you are starting a new ShortPoint web part. Select the ellipsis button or right-click to open the context menu then press Paste. You can choose either to paste the Section before or after the Section you selected.
When you are copying one Design Element, access the ellipsis button to paste it within a column, a panel, or in any space before or after another Design Element.
You can also see the paste option from the context menu. Right-click on the space where you wish to insert the Design Element and paste.
Step 5: Save Changes
Proceed to edit the contents of the Design Element and once done, hit the Save button from the Floating Page Settings Bar.
In ShortPoint Page Builder Grid Mode
Step 1: Enter Grid Mode
You will get the Grid Mode as soon as you edit the ShortPoint web part on the page you wish to copy from.
Step 2: Press Other Actions button or open context menu
Go to the Design Element or Section you want to copy and press the ellipsis button to show the list of options.
You can also find these options in the context menu. Right-click on the Design Element to show it.
Step 3: Select copy option
Hit Copy to save the data of the Design Element onto your clipboard.
Step 4: Paste Design Element or Section
If you copied a whole Section, access the Other Actions button on the Section before or after the space you want it to be inserted and press Paste. You can also do this through the context menu.
If you copied a Design Element, you can access the Other Actions button on a column, a panel, or the adjacent Design Element to insert it in the space you want. You can also right-click on the space to open the context menu and choose the available paste option.
Step 5: Save Changes
Edit the settings and content of the pasted Design Element. When you are finished, hit the Save button on the Floating Page Settings Bar.
In Legacy Page Builder
Step 1: Edit ShortPoint web part
On the SharePoint Page you wish to copy Design Elements from, go to edit mode then select and edit the ShortPoint web part.
Step 2: Select ellipsis button and hit copy
Navigate to the Design Element or Section you want to copy and hit the ellipsis button. You will find several options on the drop-down menu. Press Copy and this will save the data about the Design Element onto your clipboard.
Step 3: Paste Design Element or Section
When pasting a whole Section, add a new Line where you want it to be inserted, right-click, and hit Paste.
When pasting individual Design Elements, right-click on the space where you want them inserted and Paste.
Step 4: Save Changes
Customize the contents of the pasted Design Element or Section and hit the Save button once complete.
You no longer need to insert Design Elements and Sections from scratch in ShortPoint. You just have to copy an existing and working design from any of your intranet pages and paste them on your new page. That is all!
