Responsive needs (move away from custom masterpage)

We are trying to move away from bindtuning's masterpage to your responsive options and have some requests that we normally complete for our clients with a custom masterpage.

  1. Ability to change the logo URL to always go to top level site.  For example, test.com has a subsite test2 (test.com/test2).  Clicking the logo on test2 would go to the top level site test.com in our solutions.  We control this by making an edit to our custom masterpage.  Maybe your Change the Look - Responsive section could have a column to mange this.
  2. Some options to make some general changes size and color changes to top nav, quick bar (left nav) and body size.  Normally done with custom css, a non programming option where a user can manage this via form would be useful for clients.  Again, maybe your Change the Look - Responsive section could have a column to mange this.
  3. Side note: On small devices, ability to show or not show the logo.  Currently we see the logo not be displaying by default.  Admin could control this in your Change the Look - Responsive section.

Future install the add-in release with SharePoint site templates

In the upcoming major release, you will have the option to install the add-in on one location and activate it on multiple sites.

I see this issue when trying to save a site as a template:

Sorry, this site can't be saved as a template. It contains apps that don't work in templates: ShortPoint

My questions are:

  1. Do you know any tricks to get around this?
  2. When the future release allows you to activate shortpoint on multiple sites, will the save as a template constraint still exist on subsites?  For example, client installs your app on top level site, creates subsite: test, client activates shortpoint on subsite test.  Client adds some shortpoint elements to subsite test.  Client goes to save the subsite test as a template.  Will the client get the same, cant save as a template issue?
  3. More of a request, if the option to activate on multiple sites (subsites) will exist, a similar amount of control for responsive settings would be nice as well so we don't have to go to each subsite and setup responsive settings.

First of all, thank you for the awesome feedback :)

Responsive needs (move away from custom masterpage)

The short answer is: We are adding complete branding solution to ShortPoint this year, where you can brand your SharePoint sites without customizing master page. The responsive feature is just warming up :)

You pointed two important requirements that we did not think of related to the logo. Added and will be included in the upcoming major release.

Future install the add-in release with SharePoint site templates

We are aware of this; you can not save the site as a template if you have ShortPoint installed. You have to remove the add-in, save the site as a template and when you create an instance from the template, add the add-in again. This is the only workaround we have now. None of your designs will be affected and will work once you install the add-in again.

This will be solved when we release the new add-in installation improvement. You can install ShortPoint add-in at the top level site collection, and you will not have any issue saving subsites as templates.

By default, all subsites will use the same settings from the top level site collection. You will be able to override the settings on subsites as you wish. We have this already working for SharePoint On-premise farm solutions.

Will post here more updates soon.

Thank you so much.

when we release the new add-in installation improvement.

Are you confident this will occur in the next major release 30ish days from now or do you think this will take longer?

Yes. Very confident about that.

We will send you the release before if you like to become a member of ShortPoint early adopters program.

Thank you Alex for the features your suggested. We are very excited that we managed to implement everything :)
