Part 1. Configuring the Birthday property

Once you confirmed that the Birthday is filled in for the User profiles, open the SharePoint admin center for the property configuration.

Info: The Birthday property exists by default, so you do not need to create a new property.

Step 1. Locate the People-SPS:Birthday crawled property

From the side menu of the SharePoint admin center, click More features and then Open under the Search section:

Search

Then, click Manage Search Schema:

Manage Search Schema

Switch to the Crawled Properties tab:

Crawled Properties

In the list of properties, locate the People:SPS-Birthday and click it to open the menu:

Step 2. Map People:SPS-Birthday to a Managed Property

Click Add a Mapping in the Mappings to managed properties section:

Search for RefinableDate18 property. Select it and click OK:

Managed Property Selection

Note: You can choose any RefinableDate property you prefer. In this article we are using mapping Birthday with RefinableDate18 as this is what we keep selected by default when you configure the Upcoming Birthdays ShortPoint People Search connection.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click OK to save the settings.

Step 3. Check the RefinableDate property settings

Switch to the Managed Properties tab:

Managed Properties tab

Find the RefinableDate property that you have mapped the People:SPS-Birthday to. You should be able to see your mapping under the MAPPED CRAWLED PROPERTIES section. Click the property name to open the settings:

Managed Property Settings

In the opened settings, make sure the following options are checked or active:

  • queryable;
  • retrievable;
  • refinable;
  • sortable.
