What is a ShortPoint Admin?
A ShortPoint Admin is a designated ShortPoint Designer who holds elevated permissions to manage the use of ShortPoint AI Designer and restrict certain dashboard pages for other team designers.
While all ShortPoint Designers can build beautiful pages, the ShortPoint Admin acts as the "gatekeeper" for high-level settings and resource consumption.
As a ShortPoint Admin, you have exclusive access to:
- AI Feature Control: Turn the ShortPoint AI Designer feature on or off for all ShortPoint Designers.
- Credit Management: View the current AI credit balance and set custom limits to manage usage.
- Usage Insights: Access detailed AI usage stats to see how credits are being spent.
- Designer Restrictions: You can disable access for other ShortPoint Designers to the following specific areas:
- Update Page: Prevent other ShortPoint Designers from triggering ShortPoint SPFx version updates.
- Accessibility Page: Control who can manage accessibility settings.
- License Page: Restrict access to subscription and billing details.
How is the Admin Role Assigned?
The assignment process depends on the number of ShortPoint Designers currently on your ShortPoint license:
Single Designer License
If you are the only ShortPoint Designer assigned to your license, you don’t need to do a thing! You are automatically granted the ShortPoint Admin role.
Multi-Designer License
If your organization has two or more ShortPoint Designers, an admin will not be assigned automatically. To designate one of your ShortPoint Designers as the Admin, you will need to contact support@shortpoint.com or submit a request. Our team will verify your account and apply the admin permissions to the chosen user.
Reassigning the Admin Role
We understand that roles within a company can change. If your current ShortPoint Admin leaves the team or you wish to pass the responsibility to another ShortPoint Designer, simply reach out to support@shortpoint.com or submit a request again. Our team will help you reassign the role to another active designer on your license.
NOTECurrently, only one ShortPoint Designer can hold the Shortpoint Admin role at any given time.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a ShortPoint Designer and a ShortPoint Admin?
A ShortPoint Designer can use all the standard ShortPoint design tools to build and edit pages. A ShortPoint Admin is a ShortPoint Designer who has additional administrative controls, such as managing AI credits, turning AI features on or off, and restricting access to administrative pages (like Licensing or Updates) for other designers.
Does every team need a ShortPoint Admin?
Yes, it’s crucial for managing AI resources. If you are a solo designer, you are already the admin. If you have a team, one person must be designated to handle these high-level settings.
Can I prevent other designers from seeing our license details?
Yes. As a ShortPoint Admin, you have the authority to disable access to the License Page for all other ShortPoint Designers on your team. You can also do the same for the Update and Accessibility pages.
How do I keep track of our AI credit spend?
The ShortPoint Admin has exclusive access to the AI usage stats dashboard. From there, you can monitor consumption and even set specific limits to ensure your team stays within budget.
Can I turn off the ShortPoint AI Designer if my team doesn't want to use it?
Absolutely. The ShortPoint Admin has a master switch to enable or disable the AI Designer feature for the entire organization.
How do I become the Admin?
If you are the only ShortPoint Designer, you are automatically the admin. If you have multiple designers, you must contact support@shortpoint.com or submit a request to have the role manually assigned to you.
Can we have two ShortPoint Admins for one account?
No. Currently, the system supports only one designated ShortPoint Admin per license to ensure clear accountability for credit management and global settings.
What happens if our Admin leaves the company?
If you need to change who holds the Admin role, simply reach out to support@shortpoint.com or submit a request. They will verify the request and transfer the administrative permissions to the new designated designer.
