Background Video Are Not Working on Safari Browser Behind VPN

If you have a video that is protected by a session-based login system ( VPN for example ), if you attempt to use this particular video in a Background shortpoint, you'll notice that video will not work on Safari browser specifically,

Cause:

This is due to a bug in Safari browser, as it will fail to pass the authentication parameters to the video player.

Resolution:

You have two alternatives here:

  1. If you wish to have the video played even on Safari browsers, you can host the video on a public URL that can be accessed anonymously and is not protected by a session-based login system.
  2. Background ShortPoint can accept both an image and a video at the same time, so you can provide an alternative background image, that will be shown to end users when the background video fails to play, and by this way you avoid having a blank background area shown to some of your users.
