Try ShortPoint nowTo edit Classic Pages in the new ShortPoint Page Builder Grid Mode and fully take advantage of its features, you will need to go through a migration process. It is automatically triggered as soon as you start editing your Classic page. We will show you what steps you need to take in this support article.
Note: The Live Mode editing experience is not available for Classic Pages.

Prerequisites
- You upgraded to the ShortPoint SPFx version 8.0.x.xx or later on Office 365 (SharePoint Online) or SharePoint 2019 environment;
- You are a ShortPoint user with an active license;
- You have existing SharePoint Classic pages with ShortPoint web parts and design elements.

Key Updates for Classic Pages
In the new ShortPoint Page Builder, you will get an all-new Grid Mode editing interface. It still contains all of your favorite features and functions but is now set up with new user experience updates.
One of the key updates is that you will now find only one Insert button for ShortPoint on the SharePoint Classic page ribbon. This inserts a new ShortPoint web part with a Section and a Row. To insert a ShortPoint Design Element, you can press the plus button within the web part and it will open the Design Element options you are familiar with. You will also insert a new Design Element in any existing ShortPoint web part in the same way.
Another key update you need to remember is that the ShortPoint builder blocks are reinforced in the New Page Builder. This means that ShortPoint Design Elements must be contained within a parent Section and Row. You will not be able to insert a standalone ShortPoint Design Element as it is no longer supported. Adding Rows within other content-holding Design Elements, besides a Section, is also no longer supported.
We’ve also made the conversion to the supported layouts automatically take effect during migration if you have existing standalone ShortPoint Design Elements on your page.
Important: For classic pages, migration to Grid mode will affect all ShortPoint Design Elements and their layouts. If you currently have SharePoint out-of-the-box web parts added to your page, such as SharePoint Calendar this web part will also inherit a ShortPoint design element called webpart container.
How to Complete ShortPoint Page Builder Migration for Classic Pages
The migration process needs to be completed once in each of your Classic pages to continue editing any ShortPoint web part and Design Element on your page. Here are the steps to proceed with migration:
Step 1: Edit the page or the ShortPoint web part
As soon as you enter edit mode on any Classic page, you will get a pop-up window informing you that migration is required to continue editing the page. In this window, you will find several resources you can use to learn more about the process if you need more information before continuing with it. You can watch a video tutorial on migration, read a support article on migration best practices, or schedule a session with one of our Customer Support Experts.
If you do not wish to proceed, you can close the window. You can proceed to edit any text, SharePoint web parts, or non-ShortPoint-related items. However, you will not be able to proceed with editing ShortPoint elements on your page until the migration is complete.
Migration will also be triggered by clicking an action button on any ShortPoint web part or Design Element on your page.
Step 2: Select Switch to New Builder
To start the migration, you can select the Switch to New Builder button.
Specific unsupported layouts existing on your Classic page may trigger a new notification window to appear. It informs you that one or more unsupported layouts were detected and that the migration process will automatically convert them to supported layouts. You have the option to close the window to cancel the migration. If you want to continue, you can click Proceed with Migration and you will progress to the next step.
Step 3: Press Got It button
In just a few seconds, you will receive a pop-up window informing you that migration was successful and that you are ready to edit the page with the new ShortPoint Page Builder functions.
Hit the Got it button to complete.
Step 4: Review, edit, and save
You can now review the content of your page and start editing using the new ShortPoint Page Builder Grid Mode experience.
Hit Save and publish the page once you are finished.
