This article will demonstrate how to use the Shared Events (Outlook) connection type, which allows you to connect ShortPoint Design Elements to a shared Outlook calendar.

Prerequisites
- You must have the latest version of ShortPoint SPFx installed on your SharePoint environment.
- You must be a ShortPoint Designer with an active license.
- You must have an existing Design Element you want to use to connect.
- You must have a shared mailbox with an Outlook calendar of events.
- You must grant ShortPoint permission to read Outlook Events details. For more information on how to grant permissions, go to Setting up Microsoft Graph Integration for SharePoint Online.

Step-by-step Tutorial
Follow the steps below for a detailed step-by-step guide on how to use the Shared Events (Outlook) connection type:
Step 1: Edit the ShortPoint web part
- Go to the SharePoint page where you want to use the Shared Events (Outlook) connection type and click Edit.
- Click the ShortPoint tag.
- Click the pencil icon.
Step 2: Switch to Grid Mode
- Click the Switch to Grid Mode icon.
NOTE: The ShortPoint Connect Feature is currently only available in Grid Mode.
Step 3: Edit the Design Element
- Look for the Design Element you want to use to connect and click the cogwheel icon.
NOTE: You can use any ShortPoint Design Element of your choice to establish connection.
Step 4: Connect using the Shared Events (Outlook) connection type
- Go to the Connect tab.
- Click Shared Events (Outlook).
- Paste the email address of your shared mailbox in the Shared Account field.
- Then, agree to all the conditions.
- (Optional) You can modify the following fields:
Recurring Event | allows you to modify how recurring events will appear on your page. You can choose to Expand (show all occurrences of an event) or Show only once (show only one occurrence of an event) | |
Show Events in the Upcoming | allows you to customize the number of Days, Months, or Years you want to show for upcoming events | |
Show Events in the Past | allows you to customize the number of Days, Months, or Years you want to show for past events | |
Items Limit | allows you to modify the maximum number of events shown | |
Preferred Time Zone | allows you to select the Time zone of your events | |
Enable Advanced Date Format | allows you to customize the date and time format for your events |
- Click Connect to establish the connection
NOTE: If you haven't granted permission to access your Outlook Events data, you will see a warning in the Design Element Connect tab:
In order to fix it, go to Setting Up Microsoft Graph Integration for SharePoint Online.
Step 5: Map Items to display
- Go to the Items tab.
- Delete all default content.
- Click the link icon for each field to choose the property you want to display.
- (Optional) Select a Linking Option:
- Lightbox - opens the link in a lightbox
- New Window - opens the link in a new window
- Dialog - opens the link in a dialog box

Step 6: Update and Save
- Click Preview to see how the Design Element will look on your page.
- Once satisfied, click Update.
- Then, click the eye icon to see your page's appearance in real-time.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Congratulations! You can now showcase Outlook events of selected people on your SharePoint page.
