TABLE OF CONTENTS

Prerequisites

  • You have ShortPoint SPFx installed on your SharePoint environment.
  • You are a ShortPoint Designer with an active license.
  • Your ShortPoint Admin must allow access to the Update page. Otherwise, you may ask your ShortPoint Admin to check your current ShortPoint SPFx version. For more information, check out Who is the ShortPoint Admin.

What Is a ShortPoint SPFx Version?

ShortPoint SPFx is the version of ShortPoint built on the SharePoint Framework (SPFx). You install it once for your whole SharePoint tenant, and every site that uses ShortPoint runs the same version.

Each release has a version number, such as 9.4.3.0. Newer releases have higher numbers. Knowing your version helps you:

  • Check whether you have the newest features and fixes.
  • Confirm that a feature described in a support article is available to you. Many articles mention the version that introduced a feature.
  • Give our support team the details they need when you submit a ticket.

Where to Find Your SPFx Version

You can find your current ShortPoint SPFx version on the Update page of the ShortPoint Dashboard. It shows everything about the current ShortPoint SPFx version installed on your tenant. If it's the newest one, you'll see (latest) next to the number.

You'll also see a Change Log where you get an overview of ShortPoint's latest releases.

NOTESettings on the Update page apply to your entire SharePoint tenant, so only change them if you're authorized to. To learn how to update, see How to Update to New ShortPoint SPFx Versions.

To get more details about the version you're in, you can also check the ShortPoint Release Roadmap page. Under Current Versions, you'll see the newest version for each environment (Microsoft 365, SharePoint 2019, and SharePoint 2013/2016), plus the date it was last updated.

The Release Roadmap is also the best place to go if you want a detailed overview of a release. It has a Major Releases section that highlights big updates and a full list of every release, with the new features, improvements, and fixes in each one. You can filter the list by environment, by major or minor release, and by release type.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I see my ShortPoint SPFx version the fastest?

Open the ShortPoint Dashboard. Your version number is shown in brackets right next to the ShortPoint Dashboard title.

How do I know if I have the latest version?

Open the Update page in the ShortPoint Dashboard. If you see (latest) next to your Current Version and the message ShortPoint is up to date, you have the latest version. You can also compare your version with the Current Versions list on the Release Roadmap.

What should I do if a new version is available?

Follow How to Update to New ShortPoint SPFx Versions to learn how to update to the latest version.

Will opening the Update page change anything on my sites?

No. Opening the Update page and checking your version doesn't change anything. The warning you see before the page opens is a reminder that the settings there apply to the whole tenant. Nothing changes unless you turn on Auto Update, switch to Beta, or click Update Now.

Why are the versions for SharePoint 2013/2016 different?

ShortPoint has a separate release line for each environment. The Release Roadmap lists the current version for Microsoft 365, SharePoint 2019, and SharePoint 2013/2016, so check the one that matches your environment. As for Microsoft Teams, ShortPoint has stopped releasing new versions for the environment.

Where can I see what changed in a specific release?

Check the Change Log on the Update page for recent releases. For every release ShortPoint has ever done, go to the Release Roadmap and use the filters to find the one you need.

Why can't I open the ShortPoint Dashboard?

Make sure ShortPoint SPFx is installed on your SharePoint environment, you're a ShortPoint Designer with an active license, and that you have permission to access the Update page. If you still can't open it, submit a ticket and our support team will help you.
