This article will demonstrate how to add the Filter widget to a Design Element:
NOTEYou can only add the Filter widget to the following Design Elements: Image List, Date List, File List, Icon List, Events, Image Titles, Simple List, Tiles, or Image Caption.

Prerequisites
- You must have ShortPoint version 8.4.0.0 and above installed on your SharePoint environment.
- You must be a ShortPoint Designer with an active license.
- You must already have any of these Design Elements on your page: Image List, Date List, File List, Icon List, Events, Image Titles, Simple List, Tiles, or Image Caption.

Step-by-step Tutorial
Follow the detailed guide below to learn how to add the Filter widget:
Step 1: Edit the ShortPoint Web Part
- Go to the SharePoint page you want to use and click Edit:
- Click the close icon to close the Toolbox:
- Click the ShortPoint tag.
- Select the Edit properties icon:
Step 2: Edit the Design Element
NOTEYou must already have any of these Design Elements on your page: Image List, Date List, File List, Icon List, Events, Image Titles, Simple List, Tiles, or Image Caption.
- Click the Easypass tag of the Design Element you want to use. For this guide, we will use the Image List Design Element:
- Select the cogwheel icon:
Step 3: Add the Filter Widget
- Navigate to the Toolbar tab:
- Click the Filter widget:
Step 4: Create a Filter
- Click the cogwheel icon to create a filter:
- Add a Title to your filter.
- Choose the Design Element property (Title, Subtitle, Description, etc.) you want to be filtered.
NOTEThe Design Element Property choices depend on the Design Element you are using.
- Click Activate:
- (Optional) You can create multiple filters. To do this, simply click Add New:
- (Optional) Repeat the steps above—add a Title, select the Document property you want to filter, and click Activate.
- Then, click Activate again:
Step 5 (Optional): Customize the look of the Filter Widget
NOTEYou can further customize the look of the Sort widget using the Settings button of the Smart Toolbar. Follow the optional steps below to learn how.
- (Optional) Click Back to Widgets:
- (Optional) Click Settings:
- (Optional) Customize the Background, Widget Size, and/or Text Color of the active widgets:
- Click the green check mark to apply all changes.

Step 6: Save
- Click the eye icon to see your page in real time:
- Click Save to keep your changes:
That’s it! You have successfully added the Filter widget to your selected Design Element. You can check the next section to see all the modifiable features available for Filter.
NOTEIf you want to remove the Filter widget, simply click the Filter widget again, select Deactivate, and click the green check mark to apply the changes. You can check out How to Deactivate Active Smart Toolbar Widgets for more details.

Below are the features you can customize for the Filter widget:
Duplicate icon | allows you to copy a filter. | |
Cogwheel icon | allows you to open a separate settings page where you can modify the filter content. | |
Trash icon | allows you to delete a filter. | |
Drag icon | allows you to rearrange the filters. | |
Add New | allows you to add a new filter. | |
Title | allows you to create a name for your filter. | |
Filter In | allows you to choose the Design Element property you want to filter. |
