As of August 2024, you may have noticed changes to the user interface when adding or editing a SharePoint page. New functionalities are being introduced for users in the Targeted Release program, and these features will soon be implemented across all SharePoint environments.
The changes do not have significant impact on your use of ShortPoint. In this article, we will highlight key updates to help you quickly identify and adapt to the changes. We will focus especially on those related to accessing and using ShortPoint.
Note: These updates are curently only available in Microsoft 365 SharePoint environments.
Adding and editing sections
When you add or edit a section on your SharePoint page, you will no longer look to the side panels. Add a section by hovering over the section borders and clicking the Add new section button.

Adding ShortPoint, other web parts, stock images, and section templates from the SharePoint Toolbox
Adding a new web part within a section stays the same. However, you now have the option to add a ShortPoint web part, SharePoint out-of-the-box web parts, stock images, and section templates directly from the new SharePoint Toolbox. Simply select the item that you want to add and it will be inserted into your page.
After adding a ShortPoint web part, we recommend that you close the Toolbox to have a full view of your page while designing. You can always open it at any time by clicking the Toolbox icon on the right-side panel.
Editing a ShortPoint web part
To start editing an existing ShortPoint web part on your page, select it and click the edit properties icon. This will open the ShortPoint Page Builder where you can continue designing your intranet page like before.
