ShortPoint Page Builder Live Mode Feature: Lock and Unlock

A new, exciting feature introduced in ShortPoint Page Builder Live Mode is the ability to lock for editing Design Elements and its contents within a ShortPoint web part. This is very useful to ensure that your design does not get edited by other users while you are building your SharePoint page. In this article, we are going to show you how to use this feature.

NoteShortPoint Page Builder Live Mode was formerly known as Visual Builder and Grid Mode was formerly known as Wireframe Builder.

Note: This feature is currently available only in the Live Mode interface. We are working to enable this feature in Wireframe Builder mode in the next product updates.

How to lock and unlock ShortPoint Design Elements?

There are two options to enable the lock feature and unlock whenever you need to. Follow the steps of the option that is most convenient for you.

Option 1: Lock and unlock through Other Actions button

Step 1: Enter EasyPass Active Mode

Identify the Design Element you wish to lock or unlock and click the Easy Pass label associated with it. This will make the highlight focus on just that Design Element.

Step 2: Select Other Actions

Beside the EasyPass Label, hit the ellipsis button to show the Other Actions dropdown.

Step 3: Choose Lock option

You will find a lock option if the Design Element is currently unlocked for editing. Hit lock option.

Locking disables EasyPass action buttons, Hot Actions functionality, and other editing capabilities on the Design Element and its contents. For example, once you lock a Section, you will not be able to view the EasyPass labels for other Design Elements it contains, and you will not have access to edit them. To gain access to a specific Design Element contained in a locked Section, you will need to unlock the Section.

Once you lock a Design Element, you will see that its EasyPass label indicates that it is currently locked. Hovering over it will show you who locked it.
