In this tutorial we will show you how to switch to the New Upgrade, if you have ShortPoint SPFx version 7.0.x.xx and below.

This article is for you if:

  • You use Office 365 (SharePoint Online) or SharePoint 2019 On-Premise environment.
  • You have ShortPoint SPFx app installed on your SharePoint sites.
  • Your current ShortPoint SPFx version is 7.0.x.xx or below and you would like to have the New Upgrade.

Prerequisite: Download the New Upgrade (7.1.5.xx+) package

  • For Office 365:

Get the package here: Download - ShortPoint SPFx. Office 365.

  • For SharePoint 2019:

Get the package here: Download - ShortPoint SPFx. SharePoint 2019.


Step 1: Upload the New Upgrade app to Tenant App Catalog

  • For Office 365:

Continue with Update Step 1: Upload new ShortPoint SPFx app file to Tenant App Catalog (Office 365).

  • For SharePoint 2019:

Continue with Update Step 1: Upload new ShortPoint SPFx app file to App Catalog (SharePoint 2019).


Step 2: Update ShortPoint SPFx on SharePoint Site


Open Site contents:




Locate the ShortPoint SPFx app, and proceed with the update.


Note: Do not select ShortPoint Dashboard.


  • In classic SharePoint experience:


Click the ellipsis () and open the App ABOUT page:



  • In modern SharePoint experience:

Click the ellipsis () and open the Details page:




Get the new ShortPoint SPFx version by clicking GET IT button:




Wait a little until the app got updated on your site. It will be greyed out until the update is completed:


  • In classic SharePoint experience:



  • In modern SharePoint experience:




Step 3: Run Reinstallation from ShortPoint Dashboard


After you got the latest ShortPoint SPFx, open ShortPoint Dashboard:


  • In classic SharePoint experience:



  • In modern SharePoint experience:



You will see that the new ShortPoint version is available. Click the Reinstallation tile:



Proceed with the reinstallation clicking the Upgrade button:




Important:

While the upgrade is in progress (the progress area is light-red), do NOT close your browser window:


When the upgrade is completed, the progress area will turn light-green:


Step 4: Upgrade all site collections


Repeat the Steps 2-3 for all the site collections in your tenancy. 


This is only required once to have the new upgrade package on all your site collections. You won't need to download the packages and upgrade them in the future.


Important: Please, pay your special attention that the New Upgrade will ONLY work on sites collections where you did full App Catalog upgrade. So, if you forget to upgrade on some site collections, they will stay at the previous version until you upgrade them too.
