Thumbnails that show banner images from your site page, news post, and news link can be added to ShortPoint design elements in your SharePoint modern page.

You can see an example here:

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Prerequisites:

  • You must have images in your page banners and news posts;

  • You have added an image to your news link;

  •  If not, the default image will be shown as a thumbnail.

Follow these steps

Step 1: Go to Site Pages

Go to Site Contents > Site Pages:

Step 2: Add Banner Image URL column

Banner Image URL is not shown in Site Pages by default.

Click Add column and choose Show/hide columns in the drop down. In the Edit view columns window, select to show the Banner Image URL column values and click Apply.

Step 3: Add or edit a web part and insert Image Lists

Now we can add or edit a web part to insert a ShortPoint Image List as shown below.

Step 4:  Connect to your Site Pages

In the Connect tab select Current Site from the Connection Type options.

Choose Site Pages in the List/Library drop-down. Press the green Connect button and wait for the connection to load.

Choose the values you want to appear in your Image List from the dropdown.

In the Image field, select Banner Image URL URL in the dropdown.

In this example, we are mapping the Title field to show the name of the page, the Subtitle field to show the author, the Description field to show when the news was created, and the Image field to show the banner thumbnail.

Click Preview once done.

The preview window will show how your banner thumbnails will appear. Click Insert once done.
