Good news! Now you can show SharePoint pages having ShortPoint in Microsoft Teams.
Prerequisites
1. You are using ShortPoint on SharePoint Online / Microsoft 365
Recommendations
- We recommend editing pages through SharePoint since editing through Teams works but doesn't allow pasting.
- Your Teams Tab might have space on the right, you can fix this by following the steps in the tips section of this page.
Step 1: Open Microsoft Teams and select a channel
Step 2: Click Add a tab button
Step 3: Select the SharePoint app from the list
Step 4: Configure Website app
Select the page that you designed using ShortPoint then click Save
That's it! You can now see the SharePoint page with ShortPoint element in Microsoft Teams.
Note that you can rename the tab by clicking on the arrow pointing down that's next to it's name, then selecting "Rename Tab"
We also recommend that you modify the elements in your browser by clicking "Open in browser" instead of in the Microsoft Teams application directly since pasting design elements from the clipboard isn't supported in teams.
However the page will look exactly as it does in SharePoint for your users as teams is using the same technology as chrome and edge browser to display the page.
If you face any issues then please don't hesitate to contact us as we're keen on supporting ShortPoint on this platform.
Tip: How to center SharePoint pages in Microsoft Teams Tabs
After adding your page as a tab in Microsoft Teams, you might notice that the content of the page is shifted to the left instead of being centered, this is because the page was created on a SharePoint teams site with vertical navigation orientation. (note the empty space on the right in the screenshot below)
You can fix this by doing the following steps:
1. Open your SharePoint site where this page was created.
2. Click on the settings icon on the top right then click on "Change the look"
3. Click on Navigation then set the navigation orientation to "Horizontal" then click "Save"
And done! Now your page should look centered in the teams tab!
Note that you can also create full-width pages by adding ShortPoint to a full-width SharePoint section (only available on SharePoint Communication Sites) then adding this page as a tab on teams.
Here's how you can do that:
1. Add a new section
2. Select "Full-width section"
3. Insert the ShortPoint web part into the Full-width section
4. Add this page into teams as we explained previously in this article.
