Many times we come across requirements where we need to be able to create subsites with ShortPoint pages already exist (Pre-installed and Pre-configured). This article will take you through the steps to achieve it.
Prerequisites
- You have a valid ShortPoint license
- You have a site collection where ShortPoint is installed at site collection scope
- The site collection is not having SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature activated
Quick Steps
- Make sure you have a site collection ready with ShortPoint installed at site collection level
- Create a new subsite
- Create wiki pages library (if not exist)
- Add a page and add ShortPoint component to it
- Go to site settings of that subsite
- Save the site as template (make sure to enable included contents)
- Now when you will create a subsite from the site collection, you will find the site template you created in step 6
- Create a new site from that custom template
- You should have your wiki library with ShortPoint page pre-configured same as your template!
Detailed Steps
Step 1: Make sure you have a site collection ready with ShortPoint installed at site collection level
For this example, we have created a site collection from Project Site template however you can choose any except Publishing ones (since save site as template is not available in publishing sites)
Also make sure you have ShortPoint installed at entire site collection scope
Step 2: Create a new subsite
This subsite is going to be used as a template for other sites you are going to create. Go to site content of your site collection and click new subsite
For this example, we are going to create a subsite from project site template but you can choose the template you want
Step 3: Create wiki pages library (if does not exist)
We need to make the wiki pages library exist in newly created Project Template site. If they don't exist, please create one from Wiki Pages library template as shown below
Step 4: Add a page and add ShortPoint component to it
Once the wiki pages library is ready, go ahead and create as many pages with ShortPoint as you want
Step 5: Go to site settings of Project Template subsite
Step 6: Save the site as template (make sure to enable included contents)
Click Save site as template, this will take you to new save site as template page
Fill in the details and make sure you select the Include Content check box
Step 7: Now when you will create a subsite from the site collection, you will find the site template you created in step 6
Create a site from the template and you will now see the new site with Wiki pages library with your ShortPoint pages pre-installed and pre-configured
That's it!
