About ShortPoint Power BI Integration


After a close coordination with Microsoft, ShortPoint has come up with Power BI Integration feature which has many of the Power BI Embed scenarios covered. 


ShortPoint has made it quite simple for customers to integrate Power BI reports to SharePoint pages using two integration options:

  1. Logged In User Account Integration
  2. Master Power BI Pro Account Integration

Retrieve All App Workspaces 
ShortPoint let users select from all app workspace to retrieve data;

The user needs to copy the embed URL from PowerBI report;

You can only select reports/dashboards from My Workspace
Report Types
ShortPoint allow users to embed following report types from all workspaces;
  1. Reports (With report pages)
  2. Dashboards
  3. Tiles under dashboard
Only reports are allowed
Following but from only My workspace;

ShortPoint is the most cost-effective, and it offers customers two integration options with Power BI:

Power BI Master Account Integration: Only one pro license with embedded capacity

Logged In User Integration: All site visitors will need to login with valid Power BI Pro user

All site visitors will need to have a valid Power BI pro
All site visitors will need to login with valid Power BI Pro user
Prompt Login Message and TooltipIn Logged In User Integration option, if the user is not logged in, the customer can configure login text message to display for site visitors with tooltip option.

Login Token CachePower BI Master Account Integration: ShortPoint can fetch token in background seamlessly which makes experience much smoother for site visitors
Logged In User Integration: ShortPoint caches the token for 60 minutes

1 In case if the logged in user doesn't have rights to see the report, the SharePoint page where the Power BI Report is embedded, will show a message saying the content cannot be loaded.

2 It will always ask users to login for Power BI Reports, Dashboards and TIles
