This article demonstrates how to build a central news page that displays all your site's news in one place using SharePoint’s News web part.

Prerequisites

Step-by-step Tutorial
Follow the steps below to learn how to create a central news page:
Step 1: Create a Site Page
Go to the SharePoint site you want to use and click New:
NOTEMake sure to use your root site to create the news page.
Select Site Page:
Close the Toolbox:
Add a Title:
Step 2: Add the News Web Part
NOTEBefore proceeding, make sure you already have existing news on your SharePoint site. You can view your existing news by clicking the My News icon in the side panel:
Click the gray plus icon:
Look for News and select it:
You will now see all your news inside the web part:
Step 3: Customize the Web Part
Edit the News web part:
Customize it according to your preferences:
NOTETo see all the options you can customize, go to News Web Part Features.
Step 4: Publish
Publish your page:
Step 5: (Optional) Add More News
Now that you have the central news page up and running, you can add more news directly on the page. Simply click Add > News Post > Create Post, customize the news, and Post:
You will now see the new news on the central news page you created:
That’s it! You now have a centralized news page in your SharePoint site.

News Web Part Features
Below are the options you can modify for the News web part:
![]() | Select a News Source | allows you to choose the source of the news that will be displayed inside the web part. You can choose from the current site, all sites in the hub, a specific site, or news recommended for the user viewing the page. |
![]() | Show Title | when enabled, the news header will be shown. |
![]() | Choose title heading level | allows you to specify the heading level of the title. |
![]() | Show commands | when enabled, the option to add news directly on the page will be shown. |
![]() | Layouts | allows you to choose the style of the web part. |
![]() | Show compact view in narrow widths | when enabled, a compact view of the news will be shown. |
![]() | Show number of views | when enabled, the view count for each news post will be shown. |
![]() | Show author | when enabled, the author of the news post will be shown. |
![]() | Show first published date | when enabled, the first published date of the news post will be shown. |
![]() | Hide this web part if there's nothing to show | when enabled, this will hide the web part if no data can be shown. |
![]() | Filter | allows you to filter the news that appears. You can choose from several filter types. |
![]() | Enable audience targeting | when enabled, targeting to promote content to specific audiences across the site will be applied. |
