How to Set ShortPoint Element Visibility to Active Directory Security Group

Active Directory and Office 365 Group Visibility Overview



Prerequisites


  • You have ShortPoint version 6.5.x.x or later.
  • You have one of the following:
    • Security group (AD group) synced to your SharePoint Server or SharePoint Online (Office 365);
    • Security group which contains Users or Group of Users (Office365, Distribution List or Viva Engage).

Part 1: Change SharePoint Group's Visibility Setting

This part describes how to add Security group (AD group) to SharePoint group and how to configure SharePoint group settings to be ready to work with ShortPoint visibility.


Part 2: Setting ShortPoint element's Visibility

    This part describes how to configure ShortPoint visibility to support Security groups (AD groups)



Part 1: Change SharePoint Group's Visibility Setting

Step 1: Open Site settings page


Click on Gear icon at the top right corner of the page and select Site settings:





Step 2: Open People and groups page


Click on People and groups:




Step 3: Select SharePoint group


Select SharePoint group which will contain Security group (AD group):



Step 4: Add Security group (AD group) to SharePoint group


  • Click New:



  • Type name of the Security group (AD group) which you want to add to SharePoint group and click on Share button




Step 5: Open Group Settings

Click on Settings > Group Settings




Step 6: Set "Who can view the membership of the group?" setting to Group Members





Step 7: Click OK button to save group settings





Part 2: Setting ShortPoint element's Visibility

Step 1: Insert ShortPoint element or edit existing one.


Note: For this example we have used ShortPoint Tiles Element, but you could use any other ShortPoint element supporting visibility feature. 





Step 2: Open Visibility Tab





Step 3: Select SharePoint group


Set the SharePoint Group which contains Security group to "This ShortPoint is visible only for" or "Do not show it forproperty





Step 4: Enable advanced settings





Step 5: Enable support for other groups





Step 6: Insert element





That's it! 

Now ShortPoint visibility will support Security group (AD group) users.
