Intro
Important!
1) This article shows the process of connection for Classic SharePoint experience.
2) This article features the previous version of Connect Feature UX. This means you will see differences in the user interface and experience if you are using ShortPoint SPFx.
If you are using SharePoint On-Premise, this UX is still valid until the next update. After that the present article will be deprecated.
If you are using ShortPoint SPFx 6.9 or newer, please use this article instead: ShortPoint Connect: Basic Tutorial.
If you are using ShortPoint Farm Solution this article is for you.
Step 1: Prepare a SharePoint List
Start with a SharePoint list.
In our example, this is a list of company employees which has two views: "All Employees" and "Employees by Age".
Choose a view which you would like to display. We will use the "All Employees" view.
Step 2: Insert a ShortPoint Simple List
Open your page, switch to the Insert tab and press Insert to open the Page Builder.
Choose a Simple List.
Press Insert, and you will see that a new element appeared on the page:
Step 3. Connect
Open the Simple List settings by pressing the cog wheel icon.
Switch to the Connect tab.
Choose the source of connection (in our case, I choose Current Site, because the list is located on the same site in which I build a page).
Choose the name of the list (if you have a lot, start typing the name of the list in the field to filter, just as I did in the below animation).
Choose the view you want to use (All Employees was the view I wanted to use, it was already chosen by default, so I did not change anything).
If you want to limit the number of items, indicate the number in the Items Limit field. (More advanced information and troubleshooting on limiting the number of items can be found in this article).
When everything is ready, press Connect. If the connection was established successfully, the Connect button will become red:
Step 4: Map the Items
Switch to Items tab.
Here, you need to choose, which columns will be displayed in your ShortPoint Simple List.
Use the chain icon buttons and choose the necessary columns.
I have chosen the Title field to display the Name, Subtitle field to display the Position, and Description field to display the Office.
Press Preview to quickly evaluate the changes, and/or Update when everything is ready.
If you cannot find the needed column in the drop-down list while mapping, please check this solution.
Result
After you save the page, you will see the connected Simple List:
